Don't forget to redirect your post before you leave the UK. The Royal
Mail's
Redirection service can not only redirect your mail to anywhere in the UK
for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months, but it can also redirect to Australia for a little over
£70 for a 12 month service. You can now apply for redirection online,
using their online application form.
Bank Accounts
English Bank Accounts
You can leave your account open in the UK for as long as you want, but make sure
that the address of the account is still one that you can get statements and other
post from.
Australian Bank Accounts
If you have your visa approved and it is a visa that registers you as an Australian
resident, you can open a bank account if you satisfy a points system. Use
this Points System
form to check that you can open an account first. Most of the
big banks in Australia will be able to setup your personal banking requirements
before you touch-down in Australia. For example, NAB's special migrant

Pensions
If you're planning on moving your pension over to Australia, you need to do it within
